The
Early Years
Dallas and Linda were married in April, 1963, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At
the time, Linda worked for Northwest Airlines and was a teacher at an
airline school. Dallas was a material control analyst for Honeywell. Several
months after their marriage, Linda turned her life over to Christ during a
televised Billy Graham crusade. Soon afterwards, following their attendance
at a Billy Graham crusade in Nebraska, Dallas surrendered his life to the
same Savior. Within a short time, they became youth workers at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
In 1971, sensing a call to full-time ministry, they joined the staff of
Campus Crusade for Christ International. In 1973, they sensed God directing
them to Milwaukee to help start a Campus Crusade ministry here.
In 1974, Dallas and Linda co-founded Discipleship Unlimited; and in 1976,
their ministry to inmates, prison staff, and volunteers across the United
States began as they initially worked in partnership as contract speakers
for Prison Fellowship. In prisons and federal penitentiaries, Dallas and
Linda have taught marriage seminars, led volunteer and staff training, and
brought the message of the love of Jesus Christ to inmates through retreats
held inside prisons. DU is a nonprofit organization served by volunteers
from across the country.
For over 20 years, Linda led an interdenominational Bible study in Milwaukee
and hosted a local radio program, “Beauty for Ashes,” interviewing both
locally- and nationally-known Christians. In addition to ministering to
couples through marriage counseling sessions, Dallas meets regularly with
small groups of men in Bible studies.
