PRISON MINISTRY AND MORE

Mission Statement:

We seek to lead men and women to salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We seek to build up the body of believers in the faith through:

  • Prayer
  • Bible study
  • Accountability to other believers
  • Application of biblical truth through ministry opportunities

Our focus:

  • Equipping the body for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12)
  • Preaching good news to the poor, binding up the brokenhearted, proclaiming freedom for the captives, and release from darkness for the prisoners (Isaiah 61:1)

This focus is accomplished through...
Prison ministry:

  • Lead teams of men and women volunteers—into both men’s and women’s prisons to conduct one- to three-day “retreats” and marriage seminars in Wisconsin and nationally.
  • Gatesville, Texas, prisons—population approximately 11,000 inmates; located in Central Texas, about 120 miles south of Dallas
  • Taycheedah, Wisconsin, women’s prison—approximately 600 women incarcerated; over 120 attend two-day seminars twice each year.
  • Lead monthly marriage seminars at several prisons in Wisconsin.

(Our prison ministry began after a visit in 1975 to Eddyville State Prison, where we met Billy Houghins. Billy was the first inmate we met who was serving a life sentence, but had been set free.)
