Mission Linda Strom Early Years What Others Say
Karla Faye Tucker
SET FREE
From Linda Strom:
People have asked me why I wrote "Karla Faye Tucker: Set Free" and
how I think God might use it. In the final days before Karla Faye Tucker’s
execution, she gave me a charge:
“I have such joy—joy without a lid on it. I’m going home to be with the
Lord, and I’m trusting in your hands this message of joy. Take it to the
world for me.”

Founders:
Linda Strom and her husband, Dallas Strom are the
founders of Discipleship Unlimited, a ministry that reaches out to
prisoners, their families, and others in need of emotional and spiritual
healing. At its heart, Discipleship Unlimited is committed to seeing the
body of Christ functioning in the Spirit, across denominations, races,
ethnic backgrounds, and culture. In addition to ministering in prisons,
Linda and Dallas have led Bible studies and spoken in churches of almost all
denominations.
Thousands of people, both inside and outside prison walls, have felt the
impact of Dallas and Linda Strom’s Discipleship Unlimited, a multi-faceted
ministry based in Gatesville, Texas. In 1999, Discipleship Unlimited
celebrated 25 years of experiencing God’s loving faithfulness, direction,
and provision.
Mission Statement:
We seek to lead men and women to salvation through the
life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We seek to build up the body
of believers in the faith through:
Our focus:
-
Equipping the body for the work of the ministry
(Ephesians 4:12)
-
Preaching good news to the poor, binding up the
brokenhearted, proclaiming freedom for the captives, and release from
darkness for the prisoners (Isaiah 61:1)
This focus is accomplished through...
Prison ministry:
-
Lead teams of men and women volunteers—into both
men’s and women’s prisons to conduct one- to three-day “retreats” and
marriage seminars in Wisconsin and nationally.
-
Gatesville, Texas, prisons—population approximately
11,000 inmates; located in Central Texas, about 120 miles south of Dallas
(about 200 miles west and slightly north of Houston, which is on the Texas
Gulf Coast).
-
Taycheedah, Wisconsin, women’s prison—approximately
600 women incarcerated; over 120 attend two-day seminars twice each year.
-
Lead monthly marriage seminars at several prisons
in Wisconsin.
(Our prison ministry began after a visit in 1975 to
Eddyville State Prison, where we met Billy Houghins. Billy was the first
inmate we met who was serving a life sentence, but had been set free.)
